Mr Peter Walsh
Patients & patients' representatives (AvMA)
Peter Walsh is Chief Executive of Action against Medical Accidents ('AvMA') - an independent charity which provides information, advice and support to people affected by a medical accident, and campaigns for better patient safety. Before joining AvMA Peter was Director of the Association of Community Health Councils for England and Wales where he led a successful campaign to improve proposals for patient and public involvement, in spite of the government's determination to abolish Community Health Councils. He had been Chief Officer of a Community Health Council in Croydon and prior to that worked in the voluntary sector, mainly within Councils for Voluntary Service. This included development work, including work on advocacy projects for different groups of people.
